Katie Cassidy is Cast in CW Pilot

Katie Cassidy has been seen on Gossip Girl, Supernatural and the short lived Melrose Place 2.0. She has now been cast in a CW pilot, Arrow.

According to TV Guide, Cassidy will play the female lead, Laurel aka the second Black Canary. Her character has a romantic past with Oliver, the Green Arrow’s alter ego.

The show is a modern retelling of the DC Comic’s Green Arrow, says the Hollywood Reporter.

TV Guide reports that Brothers and Sisters’ Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim and The Vampire Diaries’ Andrew Kreisberg will executive produce the show.

Arrow will also star Stephen Amell, Paul Blackthorne, Jamey Sheridan, David Ramsey, Colin Donnell and Willa Holland. Arrow will be in second position for Blackthorn for his role on ABC’s The River.

If Arrow get’s picked up Cassidy will be on the CW once again, but hopefully she will stick around for more than one season this time.

It is pilot season and this is only one of many pilots filming. They are filmed in March and April and are the first episodes of new TV shows being proposed for the fall TV show season or mid-season.
