Arrow and The Carrie Diaries are only two of five new series that the CW has ordered.

Katie Cassidy has been seen in many TV shows: Supernatural, Gossip Girl and the short-lived Melrose Place 2.0. All these shows have been on the CW and she returns to the CW for the 2012-2013 season. Hopefully this will be the show that sticks for her.

The Carrie Diaries is expected to be a hit with the success of Sex and the City.

The CW is creating a prequel to Sex and the City.

According to The Hoolywood Reporter, The Carrie Dairies will tell the story of a young Carrie Bradshaw in the 1980’s while she’s in high school learning about love, sex, friendship and family in Manhattan.

The TV series is based on a book by Candace Bushnell. The story is told like Sex and the City, in Carrie’s point of view. The show follows Carrie’s relationships with Sebastian Kydd and Donna LaDonna.

Anna Sophia Robb has been cast to play the young Carrie Bradshaw, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Robb is best known for her role as Violet in the 2005 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Gossip Girl’s Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, Hart of Dixie’s Len Goldstein, Sex and the City writer Amy Harris and Bushnell will executive produce The Carrie Dairies, TV Guide Reports.

According to TV Line Harris feels that they have found the right girl for the role of Carrie Bradshaw.

“Her grace, intelligence, sense of fun and her empathetic nature make her the perfect girl to bring” the character to life, Harris told TV Line. “The fact that she loves a gorgeous pair of heels doesn’t hurt either.”

Gossip Girl’s costume designer Eric Daman was hired to create Carrie’s retro look and style. Daman also worked on Sex and the City.

“It’s a rare invitation to dress a character whose reputation truly precedes her,” Daman said to TV Line. “Having played a hand in designing for the Carrie we know and love, I am honored to be chosen to carry the torch — to illuminate the woman we know by discovering the young lady she was.”

The Carrie Dairies will also star Austin Butler, Brendan Dooling, Freema Agyeman, Stefania Owen, Katie Findlay, Ellen Wong, Matt Letscher and Chloe Bridge.

If the CW picks up this pilot, Sex and the City fans will get to see how it all began.

It is pilot season and this is only one of many pilots filming. They are filmed in March and April and are the first episodes of new TV shows being proposed for the fall TV show season or mid-season.
