Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 Episode 6

The theme for this week’s episode was soul mates.

At the beginning of the episode Meredith didn’t believe in them, which is funny because she has found her’s. By the end she believed.

I agree with Bailey, Christina has changed. I don’t think she’s changed as a doctor, but she has changed as a person. She had to go away to heal and now that she’s back, she wants Owen back.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 Episode 5

It’s about time that Christina came home.

This episode was interesting. Christina was trying desperately to keep her only friend in Minnesota and Meredith was trying to deal with a case that touched a little close to home, while trying to get Zola taken care of.

I guess Christina losing her only friend in Minnesota was what she needed to get on a plane and go home.

Christina is not a stranger of stressful operations. She had to operate on her best friend’s husband with a gun pointing at her. I think your friend dying and not being able to do anything to help him ranks right up there.

I almost feel like Dr. Thomas knew his time was up and not just at the hospital. He was giving Christina some last pieces of wisdom before he passed. At least he died while doing what he loved. On the other hand dying with a patient on your table is not so good, but he wanted to practice medicine as long as possible and he succeeded.

It was interesting to see Christina grow and learn in a different environment, but it was definitely time to bring her home.

Meredith’s focus was also split. She was worrying about Zola while trying to operate on her patient. She got through it. She wouldn’t have been able to get through it with out Christina. I think they’ve spoken more since she moved than when she lived there. When Christina lived in Seattle all the doctors hung out together, but with her in Minnesota there’s been a lot of one on one time between her and Meredith.

I missed the other characters this week. There’s so many characters that sometime episodes will have to focus in on only a few of them, but I still missed the other characters.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 Episode 3

If you were in a terrible accident would you take the settlement or find out what really happened?

This was the theme of this weeks episode.

When looking back at the episode, not much else really happened.

We had the awkward reunion of April and Jackson, more on that later. We had Christina almost starting to fit in at her new hospital. We had Bailey not being able to get use to her attendees in the lounge, but really she’s upset that her son and everyone else is moving on. We also had the Callie and Arizona relationship. That was it.

Usually there is so much going on in an episode, this week it was very quiet.

April has always been my least favorite character and if she didn’t kiss Jackson at the end of the episode, I think I would just want her to be written off.

Losing your virginity is a big deal, but she’s more than old enough and she lost it to a close friend. How many people get the lucky? She needs to stop praying to a Justin Timberlake poster and just start living life.

She can still be religious, but that doesn’t mean she has to stop living her life.

I’m not sure how I feel about the writers choice to have Arizona lose her leg. What kind of storyline can she have now? The storyline feels more Callie driven than Arizona driven.

Callie has always been a very strong person, but after losing her daughter’s father, her wife losing her leg and now Callie’s left to take care of her wife and daughter alone, how much more can she take?

I just don’t see the point of this storyline yet.

So, would you take the money? We didn’t get told the amount, but it’s a lot. What would be more important to you, the money or the justice?

I really don’t know what I would choose.

If I was in this kind of accident I think it would haunt me forever, but would you be able to take the money and walk away?  Or would justice make you sleep better at night?

Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 Episode 2

becksgirl_8 | photobucket.com

In many ways this episode was really good, but in others it wasn’t so good.

First of all the writers used the same technique as the season premiere, they broke up the episode by character. I think that is a good way to tell a story, but not two episodes in a row.

The second thing I didn’t like about the episode was the choppiness about the Derek and Meredith stories. I didn’t truly get a chance to feel anything because it was so broken up.

When we got to the Christina part, I finally started to feel the tug at my heart that Grey’s Anatomy is so good at. Then it continued with the Mark and Arizona stories.

Meredith and Derek were not as traumatic as Christina, Mark or Arizona, but the writers could have done more with their stories.

Meredith had lost her sister, her friends were hurt and she herself was dealing with being stranded in the woods. That is still a lot for any person. The writers could have expanded on her storyline.

Derek was a step up from that. His best friends was in serious condition and he may never do the thing he loves again. That’s pretty traumatic, but once again his storyline didn’t get the due it deserved.

Christina had a good storyline. I was very surprised to see her character react in the way she did, but when thinking about how she reacted to the shooting incident, maybe it’s not surprising at all.

I think Sandra Oh’s best performance of the episode was when she was in the bath tub telling Owen about what happened in the woods.

You never think of Christina as a very caring person, but in reality she is very caring to her loved ones.

When she described what she did and how hard she tried to save everyone it was heart breaking. Christina’s description of the woods really gave you an indication of what it was really like out there.

I would have preferred for the writers to slow down and tell the story of what happened in the woods, but considering they opted to rush through it, Christina’s story really explained how horrible it was.

I think considering we knew Mark was going to die, they did a good job of walking us through the steps. I think that it would have been more dramatic to show Mark’s story without knowing he was going to die. I found myself hoping he would live, even know I knew what his fate was.

I felt really bad for Jackson. April was trying to say goodbye, but he was trying to get Mark’s daughter to him before something happened. By the looks of it if Jackson didn’t have that conversation with April, Mark would have seen his daughter before he went into the coma. Jackson really did try to get her to him.

Arizona can’t blame Cali for promising she wouldn’t lose her leg and then giving the ok for the doctors to amputate. Any wife would have done the same thing in Cali’s position. If your significant other is dying and you know that amputating the leg will save them, wouldn’t you make the same call?

I’m glad that Alex will be sticking around. As much as Arizona is mad at him, he has to keep trying. That’s how he’s going to break through. I wonder if Alex has had any contact with Arizona since she was crashing. He must feel guilt about that as well.

Overall I thought the writers shouldn’t have rushed through this episode. I would have rather them spread it out into more episodes.

They covered so much in one episode. Grey’s Anatomy is about the emotion and tragedy and you can’t get that effect by rushing through an episode.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 Premiere

becksgirl_8 | photobucket.com

At the end of last season I was very worried about the fate of Mark and Arizona. We knew that all the original cast had signed two year contracts, but that didn’t mean the rest of the cast was safe.

I hoped and hoped through the whole episode that Mark would wake up. I thought there’s no way they’re going to kill off Mark. I love Mark’s character so much. He was Derek’s best friend who slept with Addison and a womanizer, but then fell madly in love with Lexie. Mark has grown up so much since he started at Seattle Grace.

Mark was so concerned about Lexie during the plane crash that he ignored what was wrong with him. I just can’t believe that he is gone.

I think it was so cruel that the writers made us believe that Arizona was dead. All the signs pointed to that she was dead. When I saw her lying in bed I didn’t know what to think. I did not expect to find out that she lost her leg. I was relieved that Arizona was still alive, but shocked at the same time.

Derek is in a similar situation to Arizona. He’s alive, but he can’t do the thing he loves most, operating.

The writers left us with a lot of questions this week. The end result of the plane crash was that Mark was in a coma, Arizona lost her leg, Derek received a new hand, Christina ended up in Minnesota and Meredith seems meaner and tougher than usually. What the hell happend in the woods? The new intern mentioned something about them being in the woods for a week?!

Next week we will get to see exactly what happened out there.

Is Meredith being tough on the interns because she feels like she failed out in the woods?

I think from a creative point of view, starting the season from about a month after the plane crash was genius. They’ve got the viewers wondering what happened and staying on the edge of our seats. The writers certainly had me crying when they dragged out Mark’s death. It was cruel, very cruel, but we got to feel the way the doctors felt. We kept hoping Mark would wake up and then fell apart when he didn’t, just like the doctors.

From a viewers point of view, I’m impatient and I want to know what happened out in the woods. Luckily we only have one more week to wait, even know they already made us wait all summer.

What did you think of the episode?  Did you expect Mark to die? Did you think Arizona was dead throughout the episode? Did you think Derek would be able to operate with his new hand? Did you expect the episode to pick of where we left off? Leave me a comment.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 8 Finale

becksgirl_8 | photobucket.com

Lexie is dead and Mark is not looking so good. What a way to end the season. Meredith, Christina, Derek, Arizona and Mark are all lost in the woods and no one knows where they are.

I’m so mad at Owen. If he just got his messages in the morning, he would have known something was wrong. It’s been hours now and who knows how much time Mark has or even Arizona for that matter. She was coughing up blood.

I never expected Lexie to die at all. I really thought that her and Mark would end up back together. Lexie took too long to tell him and then Mark took too long to respond. We will never get to see them together again.

Meredith and Christina seem to be ok. They are injured, but they don’t have life threatening injuries. It’s Mark, Arizona and Derek who are the worst off. We have to wait all summer to see if they will survive.

Owen is the only person who even knows they are missing and he only finds out at the very end of the episode.

Richard will have to reschedule his resident’s dinner for when Christina and Meredith can actually make it. I think being in a plane crash is a good excuse. April was rambling on about losing her virginity and failing the boards. She should be happy she’s alive and not praying for her life lost in the woods. It’s not really a surprise she failed the boards. She always buckles under pressure. I understand she wanted to stay a virgin till marriage, but losing it to her best friend is not a bad way to lose it. If only we could all be so lucky. Who knows what will happen to April next season. Does this mean she’s leaving the show?

Teddy is leaving Seattle Grace. They’ve gone through a lot of heart surgeons. I really liked Teddy she will be missed.

After finding out that the six main cast members were sticking around, the rumor of a death on the season finale didn’t seem so bad. When we knew who was staying, but three of the doctors on the plane are not main cast members. Lexie is gone and Mark and Arizona are not looking too well. I think it’s safe to say Derek will be fine, since he signed a new two-year contract. What about Mark and Arizona? I really like both of their characters. I don’t want to see either of them go. It’s bad enough we lost Lexie.

I’m happy that Miranda is settling down again. It’s about time she found a good man she wanted to marry. It just sucks it has to be a long distance relationship. At least Seattle to Los Angeles is a short plane ride away.

We will all be waiting for season nine as patiently as we can. I hope the rest of the doctors make it through.

Grey’s Anatomy Original Cast Sign Two-Year Contracts

TV Show Poster

TV Show Poster

All the original cast of Grey’s Anatomy are coming back for season nine.

According to TV Guide, the original cast have signed two-year contracts to stay with the show. This includes: Patrick Dempsey, Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr.

Dempsey had previously told TV Guide that he would be leaving Grey’s after season eight to pursue a movie career, but he will be sticking around for a little longer.

TV Guide reports that Dempsey announced his new contract on Carson Daly’s Los Angeles radio show and that he was happy that the negotiations were behind him.

“It’s just so nice to have a job and it continues on is a wonderful thing, so, very grateful that it’s happening,” Dempsey said to Daly. “[I'm] very happy … to move forward and looking forward to another couple of years of the show.”

After previously saying he was ready to leave Grey’s, he now says he is open to continuing if the show goes past ten seasons.

“We’ll see how we feel at the end of two years, but that’s been a long run,” he told Daly. “Hopefully with these next two years we can infuse some new life into the show. I know there are a lot of interesting things coming up on the last two episodes that I think will be quite moving for people.”

The season finale will air this Thursday and according to TV Guide one of the doctors will die. With negotiations going on this year, that doctor could have been just about any of them, but now that we know the original cast is returning next season that should comfort some fans.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 8

becksgirl_8 | photobucket.com

I hate cliffhangers like these. I guess at least we don’t have to wait all summer to find out who lives or dies, just a week. Everything that’s going on in these doctor’s lives will become mute with a tragedy like this.  As I was watching them in the small plane I was thinking I wouldn’t like to go in one of them because of the higher chance of a crash. Then the next thing I know the plane has crashed. Rumor is that there’s supposed to be a death in the season finale. Which is next week. It’s just a rumor right?

So from the looks of things all these residents are leaving, but the season isn’t over yet. They could all change their minds. Fingers crossed that they do.

I hope Meredith didn’t choose to leave just because Derek wants to. If she wants to stay she should fight for that. No matter who stays or leaves I don’t think Christina and Meredith’s relationship will ever be the same. Christina doesn’t consider Meredith her person anymore. Even know they are both married they should still have a close friend they can come to with anything. I don’t believe that when you get married you should cut those ties.

So Alex out did all the other residents. He’s definitely  found his element in pediatrics. You know he’s a damn good doctor when he can miss the first session of the boards and still pass. Alex has worked really hard for this. He should revel in his success a little before making his decision. Which needs to be Seattle Grace, but hopefully he will come to that conclusion.

I always felt that Christina was most likely to leave, considering the situation with her and Owen. I feel like she’s thinking about staying though. The fact that Seattle Grace was put back in the mix and she had sex with Owen again, she may be thinking of sticking around. There might still be hope yet.

Bailey never has good luck with men. I really thought she was doing better this time around. I mean she even got a proposal. Now that Ben has an opportunity of a life time, I don’t think this couple will last much longer. It’s not fair to Bailey, but Ben shouldn’t give up this opportunity either.

I feel bad for Arizona. She had to watch her brother die and now she has to watch her oldest friend die. Well she might not have to watch him die depending on the outcome of the crash. I really hope she’s ok. I hope they are all going to be ok.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 8

becksgirl_8 | photobucket.com

This was an intense episode for the residents at Seattle Grace. It almost made it more nerve wrecking knowing that someone was going to fail. You automatically think Alex, since he was late, but he impressed through the rest of the test. Then you think April, because of her major meltdown. Then you think Christina, because she was just too confident and fought with her proctor. Then you go back to thinking Alex again.

I really thought that April was going to fail. The others had meltdowns too, but none as bad as hers. She just couldn’t handle the pressure and that was part of what they were being tested on. I think Meredith was the best under pressure. She had the stomach flu and was answering all those horrible questions and she made it through. Granted if she was that sick when dealing with patients they would send her home.

This episode really pushed everyone to their limits. Most of them made it through pretty well. I was really happy that Alex passed. I was devastated last week at the thought of him not making it to the boards. I know Alex may or may not come back next season, but I still wanted him to pass.

Jackson’s mom can rest easy now knowing that she didn’t cause her son to fail the boards. Jackson can also rest easy. Having the Avery name must be tough with all that pressure on you. He had to pass the boards. There was no way around it.

I think Callie’s method really works. Meredith was able to get through the boards even being as sick as she was, because she knew the answers. She then passed on her wisdom to the others. I think it helped all of them, expect April, but April failed because of herself. There was nothing anyone could do to help her. She was freaking out more than anyone else even before the exam had begun. She just can’t handle pressure, where as the others can.

I loved that Mark was so nervous for Jackson. In Mark’s eyes Jackson wasn’t an Avery protégé he was a Mark Sloan protégé. Mark should be really pleased to hear that Jackson passed.

I’m glad Lexie finally told Mark how she feels. I just hope it wasn’t too late.

I feel bad for Arizona. She lost her brother, now she has to see her oldest friend die. It’s not fair. The guy is stupid. If you have cancer and you have a friend who is a doctor, you call them. You don’t just wait till it’s too late and then call them.

Who did you think was going to fail?

Grey’s Anatomy Season 8

becksgirl_8 | photobucket.com

Meredith has the stomach flu, April lost her virginity on the eve of the boards, Jackson’s mom had sex with Richard and his lucky pencil got snapped in two, Christina is dealing with marital problems and Alex didn’t even show up for the test. With all the obstacles against them it’s a wonder how any of them will pass the test.

I think Christina has the best chance of passing the test. She’s calmer than the rest of the residents, even with her personal problems. She’s had time to process about her and Owen. April hasn’t had time to process losing her virginity, but why would you make such a life-changing decision on the night before a huge exam. April is definitely smart and organized to the max, but she lacks in confidence. If she doesn’t pass it will be because she psyched herself out.

Meredith on the other hand is more than ready for the boards. I just hope the stomach flu doesn’t cause her any problems during the exam.

I think Jackson can get past his lucky pencil being broken. He works with Mark everyday. Mark is the reason Jackson and Lexie broke up and he deals with that. Plus all the other things you have to deal with when working side by side with Mark. If Mark holds you in high regard then you know you’re a good doctor.

I can’t believe Alex didn’t even show up. What was he thinking when he got on that plane back to Seattle? He has become an amazing doctor. Why is he going to throw that all away? He’s worked so hard for this. All the other residents have other stuff going on too, but they all made it to the boards.

It’s nice to see Richard getting his life back again. He can’t mourn over Adel forever. She doesn’t remember who he is. She’s not intentionally hurting him. I don’t know if Jackson’s mother was the best one to move on with though. They do make a good fit, but Jackson is one of his residents. Every time Catherine comes around she seems to embarrass her son in one-way or another. Mothers are good like that.

Lexie needs to tell Mark how she feels before she loses him forever. She could have him back if she just told him. That opportunity is not going to be there forever.

Who do you think will pass the boards? Who do you think won’t?
