Federer, Sharapova, Murray Through to Third Round of Olympics

Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Andy Murray have all made it through to the third round.

Roger Federer had a much easier match on Monday against Julien Benneteau of France.

Federer beat Benneteau in just under an hour by 6-2 , 6-2.

Sharapova’s road to the third round wasn’t as easy.

Laura Robson of Great Britain wasn’t going to let Sharapova win easily.

Sharapova broke Robson at 3-2, but Robson fought to bring the set to a tie-break.

Robson fought hard during he tie-break and it almsot seemed that she could win the set.

Sharapova’s experience shown through and she won the tie-break by 7-5 and took the set.

Losing the tie-break was a big disappointment to Robson and it took her a little time to get into the second set.

For the most part Sharapova dominated the second set, but there was still some fight left in Robson for her country.

Sharapova won the second set, 6-3. The whole match lasted a total of an hour and 46 minutes.

Murray beat Jarkko Nieminen of Finland in just over an hour by 6-2, 6-4.

Murray has now beaten Nieminen all four times he’s played him.

All three players continue on the way to an Olympic medal.
