Gossip Girl Renewed For Shortened Final Season

The CW renews Gossip Girl for a sixth and final season.

According to TV Guide, the final season will consist of only 11 episodes.

Show runner Josh Safran is stepping down to run NBC’s Smash and co-executive producer, Sarah Goodman, will take his place.

The cast was only contracted for six seasons, Wetpaint reports.

The season finale airs tonight and Blair chooses between Dan and Chuck, according to TV Line.

According to Entertainment Weekly, last week’s episode of Gossip Girl fell to an all-time low, falling 50% (869,000 viewers, 0.4 adult demo rating).

TV Fanatic reports that the CW will announce the entire fall schedule on Thursday, May 17.
