Michelle Kwan, the most decorated figure skater in history, was inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame last week.

According to AFP, Kwan was the only inductee this year and this was her first her of eligibility.

Kwan has won 43 titles including nine US Nationals and five World Championships. She competed twice at the Olympics. At the 1998 Nagano Olympics she received the silver medal and at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics she won the bronze.

AFP reports, “In almost a century of US skating, no man or woman has won more US and world titles and Olympic medals than Kwan”.

Kwan has also received more perfect 6.0 marks than any other skater in history, 57 to be exact.

“Michelle continues to be a role model through her many contributions both on and off the ice,” Larry Mondschein, nominating committee chairman, said to AFP. “We join Michelle and her many admirers throughout the world in celebration of this great honor.”

Kwan was also inducted into the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame in January.
